Invisalign First is a clear aligner treatment designed for young children and can be used to correct issues with arch development and expansion, tooth crowding and spacing, tooth protrusions, and the overall appearance of a child’s smile. As a child grows, their smile grows with them. And even with baby teeth, it may be the perfect time for your child to start orthodontic treatment. This is known as Phase 1 treatment. At this stage, orthodontists can see issues that may need early treatment to address a developing problem.
Fixed braces consist of a series of small square attachments (brackets) cemented to the teeth. These brackets are highly sophisticated as every tooth has its own bracket design engineered to achieve optimal final tooth position and angulation. They are available as either ceramic or mini metal brackets. The cosmetic brackets blend in with the colour of the teeth.
At the initial consultation, Dr Neil Counihan, Specialist in Orthodontics conducts a comprehensive examination, assessing the condition of the patient's teeth, jaw, and overall oral health. Advanced diagnostic tools, such as panoramic OPG X-rays and 3D Itero scans, provide a detailed analysis of the dental structures. During this session, the patient discusses their dental history, concerns, and treatment goals with Dr Counihan and Senior Orthodontic Therapist, Bhavnita. Following the examination, Dr Counihan will write a personalised treatment plan, explaining the advised options and suitability for orthodontic treatment.
There will be a detailed discussion about the benefits of fixed braces and Invisalign, allowing the patient to make an informed decision based on their preferences and lifestyle. The patient will also be informed about the expected timeline for the treatment, outlining its duration and key milestones Additionally, digital photographs of the patient's teeth and facial structure are obtained for diagnostic purposes.
The treatment phase begins with the placement of appliances, and for those choosing fixed braces, a follow-up appointment is scheduled for the placement of brackets, bands, or any necessary adjustments. Throughout the active treatment phase, regular follow-up appointments are scheduled to make adjustments, assess progress, and address any concerns that may arise.
Following the active treatment phase, the patient enters the after-care stage, where regular follow-up appointments continue to monitor the results and make any necessary adjustments. Dr Counihan provides comprehensive guidance on maintaining excellent oral hygiene, tailored to the specific needs of fixed braces or Invisalign aligners. The patient will enter a retention phase, involving the use of retainers to preserve the corrected alignment achieved during the treatment. This comprehensive after-care approach ensures the longevity and stability of the orthodontic results.

I have now visited Twoth on three different occasion... The first time was to take my son (8 years old) to see Dr Counihan for a braces consultation and my son absolutely loved the entire experience from start to finish. In fact, he was so excited and relaxed about it all he wanted to get started immediately.
The second time around, I went to see Dr Counihan myself for a second opinion and found the experience just as good as my son did
Before I found Dr Neil Counihan I had a long history of dental trauma and sadly I repeatedly was subjected to very poor dentistry. I was scared to let anybody near my mouth and teeth. I had lost hope!
Dr Counihan made me the promise, with the right care I can keep my mouth healthy and definitely keep my teeth for the rest of my life.
And most importantly he made me feel safe and listened to
